Gigi Buffington (see full resume) AEA, SAG/AFTRA, VASTA is a Brazilian-American Voice and Text Coach, Director, and Associate Arts Professor, at New York University’s, Tisch School of the Arts. 

As the only Voice and Text practitioner in the United States trained by Patsy Rodenburg with a Master's Degree in Training Actors (Voice) from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and by Robert Neff Williams in his two- year professional program in New York City, Gigi Buffington's approach to coaching is deeply informed by her former work as a professional modern dancer and actor. Whether at the Royal Shakespeare Company, on Broadway and Off, Steppenwolf, BAM's Next Wave Festival, or as an Arts Professor at NYU's Tisch School for the Arts, she brings herself wholly into each production or coaching session with sensitivity, skill, and methodologies to facilitate and release greater vocal expression in each artist with whom she works.

At Tisch School of the Arts, she has directed Simon Stephens', Punk Rock; Caryl Churchill’s, Top Girls and Vinegar Tom; Kevin Kerr’s, Unity; Arthur Miller’s, The Crucible; Alexandra Cunningham's, Number 11 (Blue & White). She coached Mary StuartGood Breeding, and Dogville, directed by Robert O’Hara; The Tempest, directed by Pat Diamond.

She founded and is the artistic director of Field House Lab a company committed to exploring physical and vocal improvisation as a vehicle for creating original work. Field House Lab presented the world premiere of Orpheus Now written & directed by Buffington at the city of Chicago's, Storefront Theater.

Buffington has been the recipient of two residency grants at The Ragdale Foundation for her writing.  

Her film credits include the lead role in Galileo's Grave written & directed by Clayton Brown, Empathy written and directed by Aimee Siegel (official jury selection: Berlin, Jerusalem and Chicago International Film Festivals). Empathy received its US premiere at New York's Film Forum; Paramount Pictures Just Visiting with Jean Reno and Christina Applegate; 

She received a Post Graduate Award in The Teaching of Shakespeare in Theory and Practice for Actors and Artists from the University of Warwick.  Previously, she trained with Robert Neff Williams, completing a two- year Voice, Speech, and Shakespeare’s Texts program in New York City. She received her acting training with Maggie Flanigan (William Esper Studio) holds a Bachelor of Arts (honors) degree from Columbia College Chicago. She is a certified instructor of Soaring Crane Style Qi Gung.

She danced and choreographed professionally prior to her work as an actor and has taught master classes and workshops throughout the United States, Europe, and South America.
